<p><span style="color:#339966;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:&quot;">We tried all sorts of physical therapy, injectable anti inflammatories, heat and cold, massage, oral anti inflammatories, and we could not fix it. This left us with one more option, surgery. Well the surgery worked, so to speak, but the problem came right back. Then I decided to take a more holistic approach, I went to get acupuncture. I went for several months, and while it made my back feel good, it did not fix the problem.  The thing is, when I rotate my shoulder in certain directions, you can hear the bursa sack area grinding. It is not a problem with my spine; that has been checked as well. The new therapist that I am going to (the same office that works on the Redskins) has me doing newer exercises, and gave me an electronic pulsing node thingy to put on my back. They also have me taking 5 Aleve a day to help with the swelling, which seems to help. However I would love to hear your input as well. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="color:#0000ff;"><span style="font-family:Arial;">In my experience, the physical therapies that you&#8217;ve mentioned are generally symptom-relieving, not problem solving….at least for your kind of shoulder issue.  I see that you don&#8217;t have a specific event that seems to have caused your Left Bursa tear?  If that is the case, you are a candidate for evaluating your body as a whole (Smart Therapy), or Corrective Exercise.  Corrective Exercise corrects CHRONIC muscle imbalances and postural/core/(rotator cuff) issues.  It is what I have come to suggest as the primary solution for most issues like this, only using all other therapies as complementary.</span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color:#0000ff;">It is fortunate and unfortunate that one must pay for a skilled Corrective Exercise Specialist  http://www.chekinstitute.com/PageId/3210<br />
Once it becomes more regulated, it too will suffer from insurance protocols and other rigid barriers that prevent today&#8217;s therapists from truly solving people&#8217;s issues.  Today&#8217;s therapists are unfortunately charged with getting you out the door without pain in the shortest time-frame.  Note that I said &#8220;without pain&#8221; rather than &#8220;fully functional.&#8221;  It is only a matter of time before the same imbalances (that physical therapy did not correct) cause the same problem&#8230;or a new problem.</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color:#0000ff;">So, my suggestion is to contact a few corrective exercise specialists in your area and spend a few hundred dollars for perhaps three sessions:<br />
One:  formal assessment and evaluation<br />
Two:  Teach you the exercises<br />
Three:  Make sure you&#8217;re doing the exercises correctly!</span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="color:#0000ff;">The few hundred that you spend now is what has recently become termed as &#8220;priceless.&#8221;  I believe that these two things are not only worth a few hundred dollars, but are indeed priceless:<br />
NEVER again wasting my time going to physical therapy when I could instead be earning income or enjoying life.<br />
UNDERSTANDING my issue on a wholistic level, so that I become in charge of managing my pain, not a doctor or a pain-drug. </span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="color:#0000ff;"><span style="font-family:Arial;"> </span></span></strong></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="color:#0000ff;"><span style="font-family:Arial;">Now, having said all of this, once you have surgery into a bodypart, things will never be the same.  My experience has shown me that you should now expect to manage your pain, not cure it completely.  By manage your pain, I mean that whenever you feel you bursa pain, you should be able adjust your shoulder or engage a particular muscle in order to absolve the pain.  Please let me know what you&#8217;re thinking now&#8230;.</span></span></strong></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;"><span>          </span>During the middle ages of Europe, there were several great plagues that killed millions. These fatal epidemics were so contagious that when people died, no one was willing to remove the bodies for fear of contracting the illness themselves.<span>  </span>People would fall dead in the street and be left untouched and unburied.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;"><span>          </span>However, there were some thieves who stripped these bodies of their jewelry and broke into the homes of the deceased to rob them and they didn’t get sick.<span>  </span>It was possibly King James I of England who eventually caught and tried the thieves, but the magistrate offered leniency if they revealed their secret.<span>  </span>How did they breathe infected air and touch highly contagious, dead plague victims yet never develop the plague?!<span>  </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;"><span>          </span>It turned out they were perfumers and spice traders who knew about the protective properties of essential oils.<span>  </span>They used oils such as clove, cinnamon, lemon, eucalyptus, and rosemary which they rubbed on their bodies, consumed, and put on masks for breathing.<span>  </span>Thus, the name “Thieves” for this highly effective and very famous essential oil blend.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;"><i>In 1997, studies conducted at Weber State  University showed the Thieves essential oil blend to have a 99.96% success rate against airborne bacteria.</i></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;">Aromatherapy has been around for at least 6000 years!<span>  </span>The Greeks, Romans, and Ancient Egyptians all used aromatherapy oils.<span>  </span>The Egyptian physician Imhotep, considered the first physician in history known by name, recommended fragrant oils for bathing, massage, and for embalming the dead.<span>  </span>Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine, used aromatherapy baths and scented massage.<span>  </span>He even used aromatic fumigations to rid Athens of the plague.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:14pt;font-family:'Cooper Black';color:#cc99ff;">But it wasn’t until the 1920’s that a French chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, made the mistake that named him “The Father of Aromatherapy.”<span>  </span>Rene was working in his lab when he accidentally set his arm on fire.<span>  </span>Instinctively searching for the nearest cold liquid to plunge his arm, he extinguished his arm in a vat of lavender oil.<span>  </span>Immediately he noticed surprising pain relief, and instead of requiring the extended healing process he had experienced during recovery from previous burns—which caused redness, heat, inflammation, blisters, and scarring—this burn healed remarkably quickly, with minimal discomfort and no scarring.</span></p>
